[EN] An eye-candy way to view, browse and listen your (netlabel) music collection

I’m an iTunes-addicted you know, but I’m always searching for new music players and new ways to view, catalogue and listen to my big music collection. Some weeks ago I was reading this post on Anything But iPod blog (subscribe its feeds, it’s a very interesting website) and I stumbled upon the following pic:

When I saw it, I said “Woah, that media player looks amazing! It could be very nice to setup that touchscreen music jukebox I’m thinking about since years!“. Well, that eye-candy and unknown mediaplayer potraited in the pic is Zune Software 4.0.

Zune Software is the iTunes-like application for managing Zune players and brings a really fresh and innovative user interface. I gave it a try and I think it could be a really nice graphical “front-end” for a well-tagged music collection like mine.

Talking about fuctions, it’s not complete, powerful and usable like iTunes, at least for maniacs/pro users like me, but a system with Zune Software as frontend + iTunes & Tagscanner as backend could work lovely as music jukebox.

As I said, I gave Zune Software a try with a bunch of netlabel music, and I did some screenshots I wanna share with you (click on thumbs to enlarge):

Questa volta sotto la luce dei miei riflettori c’è capitato uno dei più prolifici artisti in forze alla netlabel Al Dente Records. Lui si chiama Tsunami Wazahari ed è un genietto del genere noto come “digital dub” o “laptop reggae“… insomma del buon dub fatto con il computer.

I The Mueres sono una band rock messicana che ha pubblicato un interessantissimo LP per la netlabel Del Hotel Records e come la maggior parte delle sue releases è cantata in spagnolo.

[IT] Hermelin – Hermelin LP (post-rock, 2008) / [12rec.049]

L’aggettivo che mi viene sempre in mente per descrivere il suono degli Hermelin mentre li ascolto in repeat è “compatto”. “Hermelin LP” è un buon album post-rock, uno di quelli che ascolti 3-4 volte di seguito in sottofondo senza che ti pesi.

[IT] Recensione fotografica della borsa per netbook Emtec G-Messenger Bag (solo 10€)

Appena l’ho vista su Monclick, me ne sono innamorato e l’ho subito acquistata per il mio Asus eeePC 701. Si chiama Emtec G-Messenger Bag (EKABAGGDM04), costa circa 10 euro ed è davvero regalata per il prezzo che costa. E’ una borsa di tipo “messenger” in miniatura, specificatamente pensata per portare in giro il vostro netbook insieme a qualche piccolo indispensabile accessorio come alimentatore, mouse, penne USB et similia.

Non avendo trovato molte fotografie di questa borsa in Rete prima di comprarla ed essendo stato molto soddisfato dell’acquisto, ho deciso di scattarne un po’ da me e condivederle con voi. Premetto che questa non è una recensione “prezzolata” come quelle che si trovano su molti blogs, ma è totalmente sincera e spinta soltanto dalla voglia di consigliarvi un’ottima borsa per netbook

[EN] Netlabels on Bandcamp: the rise of anti-usability

In recent times, I noticed that some new netlabels are adopting Bandcamp as default hosting solution for their releases. Please, don’t do it. Bandcamp’s download process need too many clicks and it’s slow as fuck, and – talking personally – I cannot spend my whole afternoon for downloading all your fucking releases one by one.

Bandcamp’s download process is one of the best examples of “anti-usability” I stumbled upon in the last months of daily web browsing.

Si nota che il catalogo della netlabel netlabel Libre Comme L’Air (ex Les Cristaux Liquident) mi piace proprio? Oltre ad essere una release di ottimo dub, introduce anche degli MCs tostissimi che ci rappano sopra in francese. Penso che per cattiveria sonora, nel rap il francese, il napoletano ed il turco svernicino di brutto l’inglese!

Altra meritevolissima release pescata nel catalogo della netlabel Libre Comme L’Air (ex Les Cristaux Liquident)! Per dar vita a questo EP di sole tre traccie si mettono insieme 3 dei più famosi dubmasters della sfera netaudio, ed il risultato è sconvolgente!

E’ arrivato finalmente il momento di recensire un buon lavoro ad opera dell’attivissimo dubmaster francese Volfoniq, molto noto anche in Italia per aver collaborato con alcune realtà netaudio nostrane.

Nelle ultime settimane hanno bloggato in molti su questa release, ma personalmente me ne sono accorto soltanto dopo essermene innamorato. Loro si chiamano Peterloo Massacre, sono una band inglese (Manchester) e faranno vibrare le vostre orecchie se siete cresciuti a pane e Portishead.

[IT] eldino vi imbocca #32: Marcel Pequel – The 12 Months (classical, 2008) / [hpcd046]

L’unico protagonista di questa release è il pianoforte di Marcel Pequel, il cui suono ci avvolge e ci penetra fino al fondo della nostra intimità. Un solo album, dodici pezzi, che ci risucchiano nel loro mondo fin dal primo instante e fin dal primo ascolto. La netlabel Headphonica ha fatto un grande colpo con questa release!
